My wife and I got into raising.... " Registered Boer goats"..... as a way to clear our land for fencing.
My wife Heather, found them to be intelligent, beautiful and delightful to watch and doesn't mind keeping a watchful eye on
the moms when they are due to kid. My children love to play with the kids and while they are playing with them, they are helping
me do my work on making the kids gentle thru "Hands on Handling" for which is very important to me as this makes them a lot
easier to work with and handle during their routine care such as hoof trimming and loading, the last thing I want is to have
to chase and run a goat over acres of pasture trying to load him up for a show ! I do personaly like to get to "Know" each
goat, as each one has their own personality.I am very particular about the care and rearing of our herd,I believe in letting
a goat be a goat in their natural nature with plenty of pasture range. I keep a managable size herd, this way I am able to
keep a tight grip on managing the very best of their breed type. They are rotated on fresh pasture and encouraged to graze
,with grain given at a minimum amount. I believe that this makes for a leaner more natural meat type body with more muscle
and with less fat to their body structure, than stall fed pellet grain feed type. When I do have Boer's for sale, you can
bet they will be healthy and top quality, one that you will be proud to show or add to your herd !!!!!
